Creamy Tzatziki with Soft Pitta Strips

A refreshing Mediterranean dip made with thick Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, and a hint of garlic. Served with lightly toasted, soft pitta bread strips perfect for dipping.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Greek Yogurt
- 0.5 medium Cucumber
- 1 piece Pitta Bread
- 0.25 clove Garlic
- 1 teaspoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 0.5 teaspoon Lemon Juice
- 1 teaspoon Fresh Dill
Instructions
- Prepare the cucumber: Wash and peel the cucumber. Grate it finely using a box grater.
- Safety Step: Place the grated cucumber in a clean kitchen towel or fine-mesh sieve and squeeze out as much liquid as possible. This prevents the dip from being too runny and messy.
- Prepare the garlic: Peel the garlic clove and mince it extremely fine or mash it into a paste. Use only a tiny amount to keep the flavor mild for a toddler.
- In a small bowl, combine the thick Greek yogurt, the squeezed cucumber, the garlic paste, olive oil, and lemon juice.
- Finely chop the fresh dill or mint and stir it into the yogurt mixture.
- Safety Step: Let the mixture sit in the fridge for 10-15 minutes. This softens the raw garlic flavor and allows the herbs to infuse.
- Prepare the pitta: Lightly warm the pitta bread in a toaster or oven until soft and pliable. Do not let it become hard or crunchy.
- Safety Step: Cut the pitta bread into long 'fingers' or strips (about 2cm wide). Strips are easier for toddlers to manage than triangles.
- Serve a dollop of tzatziki in a shallow, non-slip bowl with pitta strips on the side.
- Safety Step: Supervise your toddler while dipping to ensure they take manageable bites of the pitta bread.
