Soft Turkey & Vegetable Rice Bowl

A balanced, iron-rich meal featuring tender ground turkey and soft-cooked vegetables over fluffy rice. This bowl is designed with a 'clumpy' texture to help babies practice self-feeding with a spoon or their fingers.

Ingredients

  • 50 grams Ground Turkey
  • 0.25 cup White or Brown Rice
  • 2 tablespoons Zucchini
  • 2 tablespoons Carrot
  • 1 teaspoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Instructions

  1. Cook the rice in slightly more water than usual (ratio 1:3) until it is very soft and clumpy. Do not add salt.
  2. In a small pan, heat the olive oil over medium-low heat. Add the ground turkey and cook, breaking it into very fine, tiny crumbles with a spatula.
  3. Add the finely diced zucchini and grated carrot to the pan with the turkey. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are completely soft and the turkey is fully cooked through (no pink remains).
  4. Stir in the pinch of cumin or garlic powder for gentle flavor expansion.
  5. Mix the cooked turkey and vegetable mixture into the warm, soft rice.
  6. Optional: Add a tablespoon of breast milk, formula, or low-sodium vegetable broth to make the mixture moister and easier to swallow.
  7. Allow to cool to room temperature. Form the rice into small, bite-sized clumps or 'balls' to encourage the pincer grasp.
