Soft Date & Oat Bliss Balls

Naturally sweet and chewy bite-sized balls made with softened dates, oats, and a hint of vanilla. A perfect iron-rich snack for busy toddlers.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Dates
  • 1 cup Rolled Oats
  • 2 tablespoons Smooth Almond Butter
  • 0.5 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon Warm Water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dates: Remove the pits from the dates. Place the pitted dates in a small bowl and cover with warm water for 10 minutes to soften.
  2. Safety Step: Drain the dates and check once more with your fingers to ensure absolutely no pit fragments remain.
  3. Prepare the dry base: Place the rolled oats in a food processor and pulse until they reach a fine, flour-like consistency.
  4. Add the softened dates, almond butter (or tahini), vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon to the food processor with the oats.
  5. Blend the mixture until it forms a thick, sticky dough that clumps together. If it is too dry, add 1 teaspoon of water or applesauce.
  6. Scoop about 1 tablespoon of the mixture at a time.
  7. Safety Step: Roll the mixture into small, bite-sized balls (about 2cm in diameter). Ensure they are soft and not too compressed/hard.
  8. Optional: Roll the balls in a tiny bit of shredded coconut or extra ground oats for easier handling.
  9. Place the balls on a tray and refrigerate for 20 minutes to set slightly.
  10. Safety Step: Before serving, flatten the ball slightly with your thumb or cut it in half to ensure it is easy for your toddler to chew and swallow safely.
